Whistlebare’s own sock yarn, 80% mohair and 20% Wensleydale from our own goats and sheep, tightly twisted for hard working feet.

Mohair is the perfect fibre for socks. It has the highest rub test of any natural fibre so you don’t need nylon. Nothing is better for keeping cold feet warm and hot feet cool than natural fibres. Mohair and Wensleydale are very lustrous and smooth, meaning bacteria can’t get hold and so there is no smell! All round the perfect blend for active feet.

Cuthbert’s sock is sold in 300m skeins, which are the equivalent of about 130g. 300m is enough for a pair of socks. We made Cuthbert’s Sock slightly heavier than the average sock yarn as we wanted the perfect socks for wearing out of doors, hiking, farming, gardening, enjoying ourselves.

Remember all our patterns are FREE with the yarn to knit them.  If you would like a pattern then please order it and its yarn though the ‘designs’ pages.

Hand dyed on the farm in small batches of 10 skeins. Scroll down to see colour swatches.
