Newman The Whistlebare Hare

(2 customer reviews)

Hey, I’m Newman, a comfort loving hare of uncommon ingenuity and spirit of adventure. I live at Whistlebare and love poking my nose into all the goings on on the farm. I’ve recently become technically enabled and every Friday I stage a takeover of the farmer’s newsletter to tell it as I find it! So if you want to know all the animals’ gossip and what on earth the farmer is doing next then I’m the hare to tell you! I would love to have a network of pals all with their noses to the ground or living luxury city lives of cake and cuddles on the sofa.

Newman can either be knitted in Cheviot Marsh Aran, or with Yeavering Bell 4ply and Cheviot Marsh 4ply yarn held together to knit a marled Newman who has Yeavering Bell Aran ears.

Newman is a stylish fellow and all variations of him have a fabulous cable sweater knitted in Cheviot Marsh DK.

Size: Newman is about 55cm tall standing up, and 35cm sitting. His tummy measures a very fine 45cm diameter.

Techniques: Knitting in the round, short row shaping, and cables. Video links provided.

Needles are NOT included. See below for needle and gauge information.

Follow the Newman/yarn selecting boxes on this page.

If you are knitting a Cheviot Marsh Newman first choose your body colour, then your ear colour, finally choose your sweater colour.

If you are knitting a marled Newman choose two colours (one Yeavering Bell 4ply and one Cheviot Marsh 4ply) which will marl together for the body, then choose a contrasting or matching colour of Yeavering Bell Aran for the ears, finally choose your sweater colour.

Needle size and gauge information.

Newman and his sweater can be knitted with one set of 4.5mm dpns and one set of 3.5mm dpns. Plus a cable needle or an extra dpn.

4.5mm 40cm circular needle, 3.5mm 40 cm circular needle and Addi CraSyTrio’s in 3.5mm and 4.5mm

My Newman has just arrived. The Yarn is beautiful and the great thing is that I have the stuffing too and don’t have to order separately. Can’t wait to see my hare come alive
