Ranunculus by Midori Hirose

Ranunculus by Midori Hirose is a top-down round yoke pullover with lace and textured stitches.  You can choose from smaller boat neckline or wider boat neckline, and short sleeves, long puff sleeves with diagonal cuff line or long puff sleeves with normal cuff line.  It is a surprisingly quick project at a very loose gauge with big size needles.

Yarn:  The design can be worked in Lace, light fingering to worsted weight yarn. The degree of transparency depends on the weight of yarn. Knitting in a thin yarn on big needle gives light, transparent and airy texture to this pullover. Using thicker yarn, or as we are recommending here, holding two yarns together adds more weight, and a more structured look. We are recommending holding Yeavering Bell 4ply together with Cheviot Marsh 4ply, and you will need 2 skeins of each.

Sizes: One size (XS–M) in the pattern, finished bust circumference is 129 cm (50 ¾“). ease = 35 to 55 cm  You can also download modification pattern for larger bust size.

Yardage: 400 m (438 yds) for short sleeves, 560 m (613 yds) for long sleeves.

Needles: 6 mm  circular needle as main needle 100 cm (40“) or longer. 5 mm needle for finishing sleeve (only for long sleeves). Adjust needle size if necessary to get gauge.

We have seen several versions of this knitted in our yarns, in the different weights, and they are all lovely, and all very different.

Yeavering Bell DK in Eider Duck created a floaty delicate knit.

Cheviot Marsh DK in Anemone is a gorgeous dramatic knit with lovely stitch definition.

Yeavering Bell 4ply, held together with another strand of itself (either in the same or different colour) makes an aran weight version which is warm and snuggly.

Yeavering Bell 4ply and Cheviot Marsh 4ply held together creates a wonderful fabric with the bouncy texture of the Cheviot Marsh and a wonderful halo and softness of the mohair in the Yeavering Bell. We think this is our favourite version and so it is the one we have set up here. You will need two skeins of each yarn.

If you would like to knit in the other yarns click the links to the yarn pages and choose your colour, approx 3 skeins of 4ply, or DK should be plenty.
