Roots socks by Clare Mountain Manipon
They were originally designed to be part of a collection of modern, minimalist sock patterns tailored to all natural sock yarns from SOCKS 2018 which was published by Making Stories magazine. The pattern is now available individually here (Ravelry Link)
Mohair is not only one of the cosiest fibres out there, it is also among the most durable ones. When paired with Wensleydale like in this Whistlebare yarn it makes the perfect base to showcase swirling cables, rib and moss stitch. The Roots Socks are going to keep you incredibly warm – and they’re definitely going to hold up!
Available in 3 Sizes they will take just one skein of our Cuthbert’s sock yarn.
Sample shown is knit in colourway Lady Lillard’s Tomb in a size 1.

Made with our Cuthbert's sock
Whistlebare’s own sock yarn, 80% mohair and 20% Wensleydale from our own goats and sheep, tightly twisted for hard working feet.
Mohair is the perfect fibre for socks. It has the highest rub test of any natural fibre so you don’t need nylon. Nothing is better for keeping cold feet warm and hot feet cool than natural fibres. Mohair and Wensleydale are very lustrous and smooth, meaning bacteria can’t get hold and so there is no smell! All round the perfect blend for active feet.
