Retreats

Stunning, rural countryside, Angora Goats, Wensleydale Sheep, instructed knitting or crochet in front of the fire, homemade lunch from local produce and of course scrumptious cake from the farmhouse kitchen…. All included in a Whistlebare Retreat.

We are delighted to invite you to attend a day with us at Whistlebare, our family farm in Northumberland. A typical  day would run as follows:

10am. Arrive and meet in the Studio, enjoy hot drinks and cake from the farmhouse kitchen then choose your yarn and pattern for the day.

10.30am. An easy farm stroll to meet the goats and the sheep and learn a bit about their husbandry and care. A look at the different animals’ fleeces and their features. Watch a short video showing the process from fleece to yarn.

12.30pm. Lunch of home-made soup with local bread and cheese from the Northumberland Cheese. Co.  Please let us know of any dietary requirements in advance.

1.30pm. Start Crafting. The day price includes a pattern of your choice and the first skein of yarn (many of our patterns are single skein).

If the pattern requires more than one skein then the rest may be purchased with a 10% discount.

By the end of the day we hope that you will have made a good start on your pattern and will be confident that you can finish at home.

2.45pm Hot drinks and home baked cake

4pm. Shopping in the Studio.

If you would like us to arrange a workshop for your group of four or more people (maximum 8) then get in touch and we’ll be happy to arrange a date to suit you.

  1. Just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you so much for the workshop last week. Mam and I had a great time. It was on Mam’s bucket list so something else we can cross off.  Willow had a lovely time too. You made her feel most welcome. I love what you do and you clearly love your animals which melts my heart. The food was fantastic, lemon drizzle was sublime .

I am still knitting which is great . Can’t wait to wear the scarf. Once again thank you. It was great.

  2. Hello, I had a lovely day and have been telling everyone at work my new found knowledge of mohair and  goats. I expect I will see you again as I am a fan of the wool and the designs. Many thanks again,
